Good news from the “Fiscal Cliff”:
Transportation Benefit Increases to $245 for 2013
The tax-free commuter transportation fringe benefit has been increased from $125/mo to $245/mo for qualified transit and vanpool fares for 2013! As a result of the efforts of commuter services advocates, Congress included the benefit increase in the “fiscal cliff” bill that became law on January 1. Bicycle commuters will continue to be eligible for up $20/mo for pre-tax qualified expenses related to bike commuting. The MBTA Now Offers Mobile Phone Ticketing
With a new MBTA mTicket application, customers can purchase tickets in seconds via their smartphone. Once tickets are purchased, they will be stored digitally in their application’s ‘ticket wallet’ on the phone. With this new application, customers don’t have to worry about losing their ticket. If a smartphone is lost or replaced, tickets can be transferred effortlessly at any MBTA customer service location. Click here for more information.
